Caminhos Revividos – Paths Relived

February 1, 2005 by Christina Oiticica Leave a Comment

2005_Caminhos-Revividos-01Caminhos Revividos (Paths Relived) is the first art book that gathers together handwritten texts by the Brazilian author Paulo Coelho from his books, illustrated by the plastic artist Christina Oiticica, hand-made through lithography and serigraphy techniques by Lithos Edições de Arte Ltda., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This art work was released in a single edition for the whole world with a commercial issue of 200 books, each one being numbered and signed by the author and each illustration by the artist.

The printing of Caminhos Revividos began in March 2003 and ended in February 2005. The dimensions of this art book – made by an artisan process of silkscreen with colors manually selected by the process of chrome lithography – are 35cm x 50cm (closed) and 50cm x 70cm (open). Each of the 40 plates has an average of 10 colors, which amounts to 400 colors for the 200 copies of the hand-printed commercial edition and a total of 80,000 prints. The paper used is Rives Tradition 250gs and the finishing is a handmade Bucol satin-lined box.
